The survey found that the building’s existing coatings were suitable for a fire upgrading system to achieve a Class 0 surface.
The client wanted to ensure that the existing Class 0 surface was maintained, but also wanted to provide a durable and cleanable surface. Following a site survey which included adhesion tests on the existing substrates, the Torrex FR system was selected, with an anti-graffiti finish for the walls and a matt finish for the ceilings. This would ensure that the Class 0 surface was maintained and also ensure that any marks, scuffs, graffiti etc could be easily removed from the surface with the Torrex Graffiti Remover system.
The contractor for this project was B4Box Ltd, who ensured that the surfaces were all cleaned prior to application and any necessary pre-paint repairs were carried out. No primer was required for the Torrex FR System, except in any instances where there were any bare or filled areas. As an internal redecoration project, it was important that the products specified were suitable for solvent-free/water-based products with quick drying properties. Once cured, the anti-graffiti surface gives excellent protection allowing the surface to be easily cleaned, meaning the areas stay looking good for longer.
Due to the fact that a full site survey was carried out prior to any work commencing and Tor carried out some “on site” training/tool box talks with the contractor’s applicators, along with site visits during the redecoration programme, a Compliance Certificate for each block was issued on completion.
