Before the correct coating system could be specified, Tor Coatings carried out a comprehensive free survey of the site to ensure every aspect of the project was clearly understood and all defects were documented thoroughly.

As part of a commitment to minimise their impact on the environment, The Queen’s Club took the decision to install solar panels to the roof areas of Courts 7 and 8 as well as the indoor court roof. This move to renewable solar energy will reduce both energy consumption and CO2 emissions. To ensure the solar panels operate at maximum efficiency, before their installation Tor Coatings was commissioned to conduct a thorough survey and develop a bespoke specification to enhance thermal efficiency.

Following the cleaning of the roof area, the insulation was securely affixed using both chemical and mechanical methods to ensure a robust installation. RTM worked closely with Tor Coatings and the solar panel installation team to guarantee that the new roof system for Courts 7 and 8 was seamless and fully watertight. Simultaneously, work took place to enhance the roof of the indoor courts, which had already been treated with the Elastaseal Z system. Topping up the liquid-applied system to the existing membrane improved waterproofing and ensured the best possible thermal performance ahead of solar panel installation.

Elastaseal Z comes with a 20 year guarantee. We will be carrying out annual inspections for the roof areas to maintain the best waterproof and thermal performance. Through reduced energy usage and related costs, The Queen’s Club anticipates recovering their capital investment for the solar panels within a three-year timeframe.
