Before the correct coating system could be specified, Tor Coatings carried out a comprehensive free survey of the site to ensure every aspect of the project was clearly understood and all defects were documented thoroughly.

The Elastaseal Z Warm Roof system was specified for this project, incorporating PIR Insulation over a new deck. TorVap was used as the vapour control layer and the carrier membrane, finished with the Elastaseal Z 15 Year waterproofing system. As well as a new deck, a new perimeter upstand detail was built, which was also waterproofed with the Elastaseal Z System.

The project was carried out by T&D Group with site support from the Tor sales and technical service team. In preparation for the application of the Elastaseal Z system, a new timber deck was installed with a TorVap Vapour Control Layer and then 130mm PIR Insulation with TorVap Carrier Membrane was applied. A bitumen primer was applied to the insulation boards prior to the carrier membrane being installed. Access to the roof was not easy, so two different scaffold schemes were used to ensure the work could be carried out safely and efficiently.

The 15 year warranty requires a 12 month inspection to ensure the Elastaseal Z coating system is performing as expected. Inspections will then be carried out every 5 years after that.
