Before the correct coating system could be specified, Tor Coatings carried out a comprehensive free survey of the site to ensure every aspect of the project was clearly understood and all defects were documented thoroughly

Elastaseal Z 25 Year system was selected as this provides a long-term solution in a cost-effective two-coat system. The use of a cold, liquid applied system also mean that no hot works were necessary, and the low-odour Elastaseal Z meant that the building could continue to be used by the public whilst the work was undertaken.

SF Harrison Roofing carried out the installation and ensured the roof was jetwashed prior to application and any failed patch repairs were removed. As the roof was in poor condition and the asphalt surface had cracked and crazed, a carrier membrane was installed which helped with the aesthetics. The carrier membrane was primed prior to the Elastaseal Z system installation. There was a large skylight on the roof which caused issues, so the Elastaseal Z Transglaze was used to imrove the water-repellency of the surface.

The roof will be inspected at 12 months after completion, and then every 5 years after that.
